acousthetic (experimental alternative rock) - NEW song "Fall Before Fail"
Started by the very talented Sam Duke and Skaught Parry, this is a new group that is an eclectic collection of various musical stylings and is absolutely unlike anything on this list. It stands out for its uniqueness and pure genius!
Allred (singer/songwriter) - upcoming album Forest Eyes
I happen to LOVE Allred. They are nice guys who are super talented, and recently, they started a campaign on KickStarter. I backed this album on KickStarter because:
- It was another album by the super talented John Allred
- It was produced by Joshua James
- It has a different sound than his other albums while keeping his sound
Cameron the Public (pop) - NEW single "Hazy on the Ground"
Cameron and the other members of Cameron the Public have a unique and refreshing sound that draws you in and reminds you why you love music in the first place. First saw Cameron play in 2009 at Velour Live Music Gallery where I instantly fell in love with the music and the artist. He is not just a great musician, he's a great person, and a great friend. You can tell that when you meet him, and hear his band play.
Dinner and a Suit (rock/pop) - NEW single "Heartbreak"
This Nashville band is incredible. I've seen them play in SLC at the State Room and in Provo at Muse Music Cafe. They aren't just friends, they're family! and they bring life into their music. They get the crowd on their feet, no matter the size of that crowd.
Joseph Patton (singer/songwriter)- Up&Down EP
This singer/songwriter was recently #9 on iTunes in that category, and blew me away. His songs are uplifting and happy. The whole EP is beautiful.
j.wride (pop/rock/jazz/hip-hop) - NEW album Monsters
This album was released at the end of 2013 at an AMAZING and epic CD release. I loved the concert because they played something from every album, and Jesse's voice is unlike anything you've ever heard. He can sing, he can rap, and he can do everything in-between. Each member of this band are insanely talented, and you can't help but appreciate the musical genius that results every time they play.
Melodime (rock) - NEW album Where the Sinners & the Saints Collide
First head these guys in DC on the 4th of July. They were playing on a stage on the National Mall, and MaKenna and I were walking around and instantly stopped. They were incredible live, so I went home and looked them up. Since then I've bought every single and album they've released. Their lyrics are incredible, and their sound is twice as incredible as that.
Mideau (alternative/pop) - NEW Way With Words EP
Oh my, what to say about this glorious group?! They remind me of Ingrid Michaelson's sound with a twist. They have their own different sound. They are amazing, and when I first heard them live I was blown away!
Parlor Hawk (folk/rock) - single "Maryanne" from the album Parlor Hawk
LOVE. First discovered them on a KSL contest in 2009 when voting for other artists, and just had to vote for them because their music had a special sound that caused me to drop all defenses and just melt. Their lyrics are beautiful and they are all beautiful people.
VanLadyLove (indie Rock/pop/alternative) - NEW Love Matter EP to be released Feb 14, 2014
Heard about these guys but never heard them play until a while later, but their music is insane! They have this sound that is just breathtaking, and they play with such ease.
We Are The Strike (pop/funk/rock) - as seen in 2013's Stadium of Fire, NEW EP to be released March 22
A 9 piece band that has not only taken the hearts of BYU and Provo, but of the west coast as well. They opened for Kelly Clarkson and Carly Rae Jepson on the 4th of July in 2013 and their performance was sooooo good! I've seen them open for other artists locally, including a performance at the State Room in SLC, and I haven't heard anything so full and balanced as this band!
Westward the Tide (alternative/folk rock) - NEW single "Young Bodies" from their upcoming album
Personally selected by Molly as one of our favorites! Westward the Tide is ridiculous! In the best way possible. Their EP from last year has been played over and over, and we can not WAIT until their new album produced by Joshua James comes out and we can play that album over and over.
